Shaykh Khalid
HERRINGTON

He became Muslim at the age of 19, is a nationally respected classically trained Islamic scholar with 25 years of teaching experience, study, and community service. He has traveled multiple times to both the Middle East and SouthEast Asia. After earning his degree in Islamic Studies, Shahādat al-ʿĀlimiyyah, at the Institute of Islamic Education (Chicago), he pursued postgraduate study with Shaykh Amin Kholwadia at Darul Qasim College (Chicago). Holding traditional ijāzāt (academic permission) to teach Qurʾānic exegesis, Ḥadīth, Fiqh, and ʿAqīdah, he couples rigorous scholarship with a gift for clear, relatable teaching. Throughout his journey, he has served as resident scholar, imam, educator, professional public speaker, and consultant in a number of Masjids, schools, and communities.

He is the founder and Executive Director of M.I.U Educational Foundation (est. 2020). Included in this effort is Islam of Mind, an initiative that crafts transformative learning journeys for new and second-generation Muslims. Shaykh Khalid works with educated professionals in various industries to help instill Islamic ethics and civilizational values into growth and development. He is well known for his practical, relevant, and relatable approach to any discussion or challenge. He specialized in the holistic approach to the spiritual, mental, and physical development and maturation of the individual Muslim, as well as communities.

Shaykh Abdul Hakim
DICKENSON

His journey in Islam began more than 30 years ago at the age of 19. A path that has led him to travel extensively (Middle East, Bangladesh, Pakistan, India, and North Africa). He holds a degree in Islamic Studies, Shahādat al-ʿĀlimiyyah, and full ijāzah (academic permission) to teach the Islamic sciences, having studied extensively from Islamic educational institutions including Jāmiʿat al-ʿUlūm al-Islāmiyyah al-Inʿāmiyyah (Canada), Dār al-ʿUlūm New York, and graduating from the Institute of Islamic Education (Chicago).

In the U.S. he has served as imām, professional public speaker, and educator in a number of localities including Chicago, Pittsburgh, New York City, New Jersey, and currently in Knoxville, TN, where he is a leader in the Muslim community and mentors new Muslims on their path of learning and growth. He also currently collaborates with the Mauritanian institute Mahdara.org as a translator and curriculum consultant.

He specializes in Qur’anic exegesis, ʿAqīdah, and comparative Fiqh, bringing deep insight and clarity to complex theological and legal discussions. His involvement with Applied Islam Consultants brings depth, tradition, and a global perspective to this bold initiative.
